Woodburners

Woodburning stoves are proving to be increasingly popular and can be a wonderful addition to any room. It is likely that you will need building regs approval for installation of a wood burner. As well as traditional woodburning stoves, you can get multifuel stoves, modern style stoves and pellet burning stoves. Many modern stoves have technology to be more efficient and release less emissions.

Before fitting a woodburner you need to ensure that the chimney is in good condition and that you can safely install a flue liner. You also need to ensure that you adhere to regulations about the size of hearth and distance from other combustible materials. The hearth needs to extend beyond the sides of the woodburner by 6" at the sides and 12" at the front. You are generally not allowed to use a woodburner in a smoke control area.

Manufacturers of wood burning and multifuel stoves include Dovre, Hunter, Charnwood and Esse.
